I was born on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada but my passion for all things edible can really be traced back to when I spent 6 months living in Hokkaido, Japan in 1995. The food was mostly alien but utterly life changing in terms of awakening my palate. The ceremony that was sharing a meal with others left an imprint on me that I still cherish today.
Not long after moving to London in 1998 I struck up a love affair with wine while working in a gastro pub in Battersea. Some years later while cycling around breweries in Norfolk and Suffolk I fell under the spell of good beer. My interests also extend to cider, spirits and the like.
A trained sommelier, and having worked in the food and drink industry since 1996 my experience includes many hours plying my trade in pubs, clubs, restaurants, and event catering.
In recent years, after a few short-lived ventures, I began blogging, presenting and filmmaking under the nom de plume Mr Drink n Eat. Those endeavours then lead on to freelance work as a speaker and educator in food and drink.
For me, besides friends and family, good food and drink are the simplest yet most joyful, life enhancing pleasures that we have in this world.
